HRAYBERY UA/PL is a vibrant ensemble that breathes fresh air into melodies more than two centuries old.

The group revives the forgotten dance music of the Polish-Ukrainian borderlands from the late 19th and early 20th centuries - tunes that once echoed through inns, taverns, and shtetls, where Ruthenians/Ukrainians, Poles, Jews, and wandering Roma came together to celebrate.

This is music made for dancing — lively, pulsing rhythms that once set entire villages and towns in motion. Drawing on archival recordings, ethnomusicological research, and the original sheet music of Oskar Kolberg, HrayBery meticulously reconstructs this historical repertoire with passion and authenticity. The ensemble’s sound is built on traditional instruments — hammer dulcimer, violin, bass, and frame drum — blending into a raw, irresistible groove. HrayBery bridges past and present, infusing forgotten melodies with new life and energy. It’s music that once brought people together - and still gets them dancing today.

Band members: Maksym Nakonieczny – first violin; Serhii Postolnikov – hammer dulcimer; Martia Bodnar – second violin; Agata Weber – frame drum.
